I found myself left with an error message "Http/1.1 Internal Server Error" when watching Youtube videos. In fact, I am not alone: (1), (2).
Yes, it is Firefox 3! But I do not believe FF3 is to blame. In fact, I also had the same problem using Firefox 2 before.
The real cause of it is the "Virus Protection" software. After I turned it off, Youtube comes live again!
I am using PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 of Trend Micro, Taiwan localized version. Maybe someone should tell them to watch this case!
It is interesting that IE7 is not affected at all in this case. Despite of this, Firefox 3 is still my favorite browser!

Firefox hang when visiting pages with Java applets, fixed!
I live with Firefox a lot! It is very stable and loads pages very quickly. However, after I upgrade Jave Run Time (JRE) to the latest version, I found myself hang when using Firefox to browse web pages containing Java applets! I was wondering whether this is a "bug" of Firefox itself.
After some survey on Google, I found in here to just turn on "show Java Console" option, from Windows Control Panel, and it fixes for me!
After this fix, Firefox is still my favorite browser in the world! No more unexpected hang when surfing!

Clever Owner, Poor Dog
The owner of the dog seemed to go away for ice cream, in that hot afternoon on the beach. It must feel like being baked! Poor dog!
If you are a pet lover, please be sure to treat your pet like human.
I really wanted to help, but I am afraid myself to be thought as stealing the dog! Luckily, minutes after I shot this film, the owner finally came back and relieved it!

Hacks for Google Calendar Sync (Version: 0.9.3.2): clearing the marked deleted items to be sync-ed
I found myself in serious need to have Google Calender Sync (GCS) to forget about sync-ing deleted Outlook Calendar items. If GCS does not forget, it would then delete the same items on Google Calendar, too! And that's very bad for me!
Luckily, after some hack, I found one way: just delete saved state files of GCS. It works like this:
- Exit GCS.
- Go to the folder named:"%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Calendar Sync\data_files"
- Removing all files, except "user_properties.txt" and "user_info_2.txt".
- Restart GCS. It is done!

The longest distance
Sometimes I feel myself quite slow adapting to new technologies. I might have already accepted the concept, and agreed to all its possibilities. But in the end, no ACTIONS are taken. Too bad!
Act on them!
I write this post to remind myself: keep the distance between my hands and the heart very short! Never let it become the longest one!

Excluding internal browser hits, using Google Analytics: a simpler way to set the cookie
Using special cookie value for Google Analytics is the most useful way to exclude internal browser hit counts. However, we have to craft many small web pages, only to set the special cookie value, for each GA tracked sites. After some survey, I found a simpler way to do the same thing (it works for me on Firefox and IE7):
- Open the target web site from your internal PC. You must have your GA codes installed on this site before doing this!
- Execute this line on the URL input bar:
javascript:pageTracker._setVar('test_value');
where 'test_value' is your special cookie value. - That's All! And repeat with all your internal PCs.

Adding StumbleUpon button to ending of each Blogger posts
The same trick as this post, we have to customize Blogger template!
StumbleUpon and your Blog
- Goto "Layout/Edit HTML", and check "Expand Widget Templates"
- Find HTML tag at section:
"<div class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-3'></div>" - Insert in that "div" enclosure the StumbleUpon code:
<a expr:href='"http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=" + data:post.url + "&title=" + data:post.title'><img src="http://www.stumbleupon.com/images/su_micro.gif" alt="StumbleUpon"/></a>
Note: the spaces around the "+"s (the plus character) are essential! And the Logo of StumbleUpon can be changed on your preference. - Save the template.

Excel Tips: Shortcut key for strike-through formatting
We all know that: using shortcut 'Ctrl-B' to switch to Bold face, and 'Ctrl-I' to switch to Italic, in Microsoft Excel software. Wait: what about a 'strike-through' formatting?
The shortcut to do 'strike-through' in Excel is 'Ctrl-5'!
(See: "10+ keyboard shortcuts to speed formatting in Excel worksheets")
For Word users, this 'Ctrl-5' is not tied to strike through function. We need to manually tie a shortcut to it.

Sun Moon Lake, Nantou County, Taiwan
Sun Moon Lake (Shueishalian, 水沙漣, in aboriginal language) is a very famous and beautiful scenery spot in Taiwan. I like best its peaceful moment in the dawn, just like this photo. You can enjoy the freshing cool air, the mist, the sunrise, the mirror-like lake surface, and the pure silence.
