復興航空GE222 v.s. Crossair Flight 3597

我剛才看到 PTT 有網友提到，復興航空GE222的失事過程，跟 Crossair 3597 的過程很像。

我剛才再看了一次 空中浩劫，我的感覺上除了天氣是颱風以外，其他的過程真的非常接近。目視看不到跑道，還繼續降落，等到下決心 Go Around 的時候，已經來不及了。FO 好像不太敢指正Captain，尊稱Captain 是教官，19:03:54.4 FO 還提醒分工 "好教官我做你飛"，我感覺 Captain精神狀況當時真不太好。

我相信任何人包括我自己，剛開始看到這個故事，都會笑著說，胡亥 真是笨啊！連鹿跟馬都分不清楚。

連小孩子都分得清楚，鹿根本就不是馬。這麼明顯的事實，硬是要這麼說，其實是為了其他的政治目的。

沒想到兩千多年後，一樣的故事，竟然發生在首都，台北市。

一條公車專用道，已經完工了，但是既不啟用，也不拆掉。既沒有發揮【任何】加速公車通行的功能，同時浪費一個寶貴的車道。無論是任何一個正常人來做決策，只會有兩個結果：立刻啟用、或者是拆除掉。

沒想到這樣的狀態，竟然可以 八年 完全不被處理，這八年裡面，每一天都一樣是既不啟用，也不拆掉。八年，八年耶！「指鹿為馬」的原始故事，都還沒有持續這麼久耶！

所以，胡亥的故事真的有這麼好笑嗎? 台北市民當了八年的胡亥，不少的人還高高興興的，自以為是什麼高尚的【天龍人】。

幸好，新當選的柯市長，終於在八年後終結掉這個台北市民的永久恥辱，我個人由衷感謝！

這是 NTT Docomo Full LTE的廣告喔！他們想要加強大家對於LTE超高速度的印象。

台灣的中華電信，LTE廣告所強調的重點主要在於 慢，不是速度慢，而是 優雅 (or 自慢？)：「世界越快心則慢」。

日本 NTT Docomo 的LTE廣告，我沒想到所強調的反而是 超級快。這點跟我以為的日本文化的調性，正好是反過來的。

我比較喜歡中華電信的廣告，可是，NTT的口耳相傳的行銷策略的確是成功的。因為，看過影片的好多朋友都在幫忙分享這個令人莞爾的短片。

我跌倒了

我星期天到的時候是晚上，旁邊停滿車子，擋住不太亮的路燈，我沒有看到人行道這個突起的水泥磚蓋。右腳絆倒，跌了一身傷，門牙撞缺了一角，現在門牙還不太能咬東西。

其實這剛好在飯店門口，我為了確認飯店地址，看手機亮的螢幕，於是我沒辦法立刻注意到暗處，是其中關鍵的原因之一。我應該等到眼睛適應過來，才能往前移動。

這裡是在深圳「世界之窗」門口附近。其實我跌倒以後，我看到還有不少人也不小心踢到它。希望有人可以幫忙通報深圳市政府來改善。

回台灣的飛機上，我剛好看到電影「露西」。我覺得我的遭遇跟女主角很像，這一週以來，我似乎已經到達「20%」的程度了。

我們的耳朵，當音量低於某個水準位，就開始聽不清楚了。


我舉一個例子，也許可以幫助大家理解。在坐滿數千人的棒球場上，休息時間觀眾即使用正常的音量講話交談，我們耳朵整體所收到的音量，和比賽開始時司儀用擴大機放送出來的聲音相比較，應該還是後者的音量比較大(比較吵)。這是因為擴大機為了讓聲音佈滿整個球場，大喇叭的密度比較低，只能靠加大音量，來增加聲音的涵蓋率。



前者如同基地台密度高，後者如同基地台密度低。

快到半夜才到飯店，沿路發生的、有趣的事情

原本應該是下午四點五十分起飛的飛機，到了快要八點，飛機才從桃園機場的跑道起飛。時間整個地往後延誤。

幸好，今天也遇到很多有趣的事情！

剛才到上海的飛機，機長(Captain)是女性。機長作報告的時候，我還以為是座艙長的聲音，直到聽到 "This is the captain speaking"。

教室距離 虹橋機場 比較近，無奈的是，我只能搭到往 浦東機場 的飛機。為了省計程車的錢，只好先搭乘巴士到虹橋機場，再轉計程車。

虹橋機場的公安，充分發揮了「共產主義」的精神。機場安檢所沒收的「打火機」，直接放在入境搭車排隊的地方旁的一個籃子裏。籃子上標示著：免費取用。

大火車、小火車

感覺起來，台北的捷運比較低矮，因此，我跟小朋友都稱它為「小火車」。反過來看，台鐵的火車比較高大，因此我跟小朋友都稱台鐵的火車為「大火車」。

其實從軌距來看，台北捷運的是標準軌距 (1435 mm，等於英制的4呎8½ 吋)，反而台鐵的是窄軌軌距(1067 mm，等於英制的3英尺6英寸)。

從這個角度出發，反而台鐵的應該算是小火車才對。

錯了沒關係，沒有人在看，改就對了！

今天一早我出門的時候，在十字路口看到一台白色的轎車，也許是因為路不熟，駕駛竟然往單行道的方向，左轉後試著開進去。

我自己如果犯了相同的錯誤，通常我會立刻倒車轉出來。但是不知為何，這位駕駛在路口呆住了。在單行道等紅燈的一位媽媽機車騎士，還好心的告訴這位駕駛，開錯方向了。

我可以看到駕駛緊張的左右張望，等到單行道都變成綠燈了，才開始倒車，左轉轉出去。還好當時車子不多，這場尷尬最後還是順利地解除了。

我在想，這位駕駛也許是太在意別人的看法，同時猶豫著各種可行方案和他們的後果，就在這個該立刻做決定的時候，遲疑了。

我從這個場景，學習到這一點：「錯了沒關係，沒有人在看，改就對了！」

GCE Debian 7, X11 Forwarding over SSH problem: solved

This is my first time using Google Compute Engine.

My plan was this: using GCE running Debian, and all Graphical User Interface should be forwarded to my Microsoft Windows desktop. Of course on Debian (Linux), XWindows (X11) over SSH is the most secure and mature method to me.

Then, it became an 18-day struggle for myself, because it did not work at all!

Today, I finally installed the same Debian 7 operating system inside a virtual machine using VMware Player. Of course, with default installation, X11 forwarding over SSH works perfectly inside this virtual machine. And then, I can start to compare the differences between the working Debian and that of my GCE instance. Now I found where the problem was.

It means, "don't say too much that the customer doesn't need/want to know."

It is also sometimes used to mean, "don't micromanage something." In this case I guess it would be let your workers carry on with their duties without too much interference as long as things are running smoothly. But I'm not sure that this is the case here, because I think that would make for a very poor manager!

我手機用的行動電源，在中國的北京機場安檢給攔下來，不能帶上飛機，只好丟棄。

之前帶來帶去都沒事，沒想到這次就不行。官員的理由是，"充電寶" (我們稱行動電源) 上面沒有標示容量。

我剛才查了一下，發現原來最近出過意外，因此加強檢查，剛好被我碰上。

I cheated. Copied the column into Microsoft Excel and use the the "Text to Columns" option under the Data tab. Then copy the data back into Google Spreadsheet to be counted. Not the best work around but I was after quick and simple. If you have access to Excel this might be your best bet.

I agree that this is the correct default setting, and I do prefer to use manual mode most of the time.

But sometimes, I'd just like to use the automatic mode to force the router to add another card without having to go through the Device Configurator.

I just realized Frank Sinatra sang this song and made it popular, after I read this on Wikipedia.

Frank's version is a little bit different from original version in the movie New York, New York, which was by Liza Minnelli. For voice only, I like Frank's version. But for a video, I like Liza's version.

How to shutdown a whole Clustered Data ONTAP? I believe I have got the answer

A DCADM student several months ago raised a very interesting question: "How to shutdown the whole Clustered Data ONTAP?"

I believe now I have got the answer. It is by executing this command and then power off all nodes.

system node halt -node * -skip-lif-migration true -inhibit-takeover true

I verified the shutdown was clean on a two-node cluster running Data ONTAP version 8.2. I believe it would also work for more nodes.

NVRAM Battery Warning on NetApp Data ONTAP

It looks to me we have to power up our lab gears for longer time. Otherwise, this warning message will come back again and again! :)

我的童年，幾乎每一段回憶，都跟這一座陸橋有關。從國慶煙火、閱兵的阿兵哥、捉迷藏、一步兩階一步三階爬樓梯、等爸爸、看汽車、學腳踏車、牽腳踏車、滑板車、丟垃圾、水鴛鴦、紙飛機、國小排路隊回家，還有插滿的國旗和標語。

我剛才經過的時候，他已經不在了。從家人那裡知道，原來是星期日 (2014.1.5) 凌晨，他被拆掉了。
